Google News Now Includes 200 Year Old Content
INTERNET giant Google is launching a service allowing users to search for news stories dating back more than 200 years.
Articles from publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Time magazine and The Washington Post will be on offer on the News Archive Search. Google's tool for searching news has focused mainly on stories posted on the internet during the past 30 days.
The new service will give users only a snippet of the articles they find. They will then be sent to the websites that own the content, where they may have to pay to see the full stories.
The service will not generate revenue for Google itself, according to The New York Times. The Wall Street Journal says the service will allow news searches dating back to the 1700s.
